UnLexa Privacy Policy
Last updated: 29.06.2026
This Privacy Policy explains how UnLexa handles information when you use the app, including learning features, app-blocking features, widgets, subscriptions, and support.
1. Who We Are
UnLexa is a language-learning and productivity app developed by Ogün Birinci. UnLexa helps users study vocabulary, earn XP, set daily learning goals, and optionally limit selected apps or web domains until their learning goal is completed.

2. Information We Collect or Process
Account and Identifiers
- UnLexa uses Firebase Authentication to create an anonymous app user identifier. We do not require you to provide an email address, phone number, or social login to use the app.
- For premium subscriptions, UnLexa uses RevenueCat. RevenueCat may process an app user identifier, purchase identifiers, subscription status, product identifiers, and related transaction information needed to manage access to premium features.
Learning Profile and Progress
- Display name or nickname you provide, or the default learner name if you do not provide one.
- Native language, target language, learning motivations, daily XP goal, and study preferences.
- Learning progress such as started and completed vocabulary lists, learned word IDs, review schedule, correct and wrong answer counts, XP, streaks, levels, weekly progress, and study activity summaries.
Screen Time and App-Blocking Data
- If you enable app blocking, UnLexa uses Apple Screen Time frameworks, including FamilyControls, ManagedSettings, DeviceActivity, and ManagedSettingsUI.
- The apps, categories, or web domains you choose to limit are represented by Apple-provided tokens. These selections are stored locally on your device and in the app's Apple App Group storage so the main app, widgets, and Screen Time extensions can work together.
- UnLexa uses DeviceActivity data to show screen-focus reports and determine blocking behavior. We do not send your selected app tokens, detailed device screen-time report, or list of blocked apps to Firebase, RevenueCat, or our own server.
- UnLexa stores local blocking state such as XP earned today, daily goal XP, selected app count, blocking schedule, display name for the shield screen, and language setting in App Group storage.
Notifications
- If you allow notifications, UnLexa may show local notifications, including a notification that helps you return to UnLexa from a blocked-app shield.
- UnLexa does not collect a remote push notification token for server-side marketing notifications.
App Configuration and Diagnostics
- UnLexa uses Firebase Remote Config to read app configuration values, such as minimum supported app version and review-flow settings.
- Firebase and RevenueCat may automatically process technical information, such as device type, operating system version, app version, IP address, SDK diagnostics, and request metadata, as described in their own policies.
Support Communications
- If you contact us by email, we may receive your email address, message content, app version included in the email body, and any information you choose to provide.
3. Information We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect your precise location.
- We do not collect contacts, photos, videos, microphone audio, or camera content.
- We do not collect advertising identifiers for third-party advertising.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not use your data for cross-app or cross-website tracking.
- We do not receive your payment card details. Purchases are handled by Apple and subscription entitlement management is handled through RevenueCat.
4. How We Use Information
- To provide the core UnLexa experience, including vocabulary learning, XP, streaks, review scheduling, and progress sync.
- To personalize learning content using your selected native language, target language, goals, and preferences.
- To operate optional app-blocking features through Apple Screen Time APIs.
- To show widgets, screen-focus reports, and shield-screen messages.
- To manage premium subscription status, purchase restoration, and premium feature access.
- To fetch app configuration, enforce minimum app versions when required, and improve app reliability.
- To respond to support requests and handle user inquiries.
- To comply with legal obligations, prevent abuse, and protect our rights and users.
5. Third-Party Services
UnLexa relies on the following third-party services and Apple frameworks:
- Apple App Store, StoreKit, and in-app purchase systems for payment, purchase processing, and subscription management.
- Apple Screen Time frameworks, including FamilyControls, ManagedSettings, DeviceActivity, ManagedSettingsUI, and DeviceActivityReport, for optional app-blocking and usage-report features.
- Apple WidgetKit and UserNotifications for widgets and local notifications.
- Firebase Authentication for anonymous user identifiers.
- Firebase Firestore for learning profile, progress, and vocabulary data.
- Firebase Remote Config for app configuration values.
- RevenueCat for subscription offerings, entitlement status, purchase restoration, and subscription lifecycle management.
- Email services used when you contact support.
These third parties may process information under their own privacy policies and terms.
6. Legal Bases for Processing
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we process information based on one or more of the following:
- Performance of a contract: to provide app features you request.
- Consent: for optional permissions such as Screen Time access and notifications.
- Legitimate interests: to maintain, secure, and improve the app, respond to support, and prevent abuse.
- Legal obligations: to comply with applicable laws, platform rules, and transaction-related requirements.
7. Storage, Retention, and Deletion
- Local settings and App Group data remain on your device until you change settings, reset app data where available, or uninstall the app.
- Learning profile and progress data stored in Firebase are retained while your anonymous account is active or as needed to provide the service.
- Subscription and transaction-related records may be retained by Apple and RevenueCat as required for billing, tax, refund, fraud-prevention, and legal purposes.
- Support emails are retained as long as needed to respond to your request and maintain support records.
You may request deletion of Firebase learning data by contacting unlexa.prod@gmail.com. Because UnLexa uses anonymous authentication, we may need information sufficient to locate your app account. If we cannot verify or locate the anonymous account, we may be unable to delete server-side data tied to that identifier.
8. Your Choices and Controls
- You can disable notifications in iOS Settings.
- You can grant or revoke Screen Time permissions in iOS Settings where supported.
- You can change or remove selected blocked apps inside UnLexa.
- You can cancel subscriptions through your Apple ID subscription settings.
- You can uninstall UnLexa to remove local app data from your device, subject to iOS behavior and any data synced or stored by third-party services.
9. International Transfers
Firebase, RevenueCat, Apple, and support email providers may process information in countries other than your country of residence. Where required, such transfers are handled under safeguards provided by those service providers and applicable law.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information handled by UnLexa. However, no electronic storage or transmission method is completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your device, Apple ID, and App Store account secure.
11. Children
UnLexa is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to us, please contact us so we can review and take appropriate action.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of UnLexa after an update means the updated policy applies to your use.
